The Importance of Well-Written Content

One thing I have learned over the years is that no matter how great or
important a business or service, nothing attracts potential clients quicker than
a well-written presentation. Misspellings and typos create a poor
impression. To the reader or potential client it may indicate that your verbal
offering is unimportant and also testifies to the type of person you are in your
professional dealings. If the words don't flow or there are typographical
errors, it will surely ruin your presentation. You can have the most fabulous
product to offer or even the most dynamic presentation imaginable, but when the
words are weak or ineffectual or heaven forbid in error, you can destroy your
efforts before you even begin. Most individuals believe they are fairly adept at
writing their own material and in truth for simple content they can generally do
a good job. However, more often than not when preparing a business plan, press
release or proposal they are unaware of the small nuances that lead the reader
into believing the content is unprofessional.
Never make the mistake of presenting yourself inappropriately or
ineffectually. If you are planning to compose something that you hope will
convey your extraordinary service or product or if you wish to have a dynamic
impact on your reader, do what you can to stand apart from the crowd in a
positive and effective manner. Read, reread and reread your copy. Carefully
check for typographical errors and be sure the sentences flow in the same manner
as if you were standing before a potential client speaking to them directly.
